technology has a very big role in my life. it is one off the things that keeps helping me out and pushes me to do more and try more things. I know that technology can be scary to people because it is always changing and evolving faster than most can even keep up with it. the idea of there being a hostile AI with a plot to destroy the world seems like nothing more than a far fetched dream to me, it is nothing more than a scary story to tell children. I do however have some concerns with how facial recognition is working with AI in some countries where it measures how you live your life and ranks you, limiting people from living the way they want. I do not think I would like something like that to be all over the world, it would mean there is no place a person can fully relax without being watched and ranked. Even though technology is ever evolving I can not wait to see where we will be in the next few decades and things will only get better.

Ai
the idea that today everything you do can be seen and quantified into a number is very scary. Today in china people are ranked on a social scale based on what they do it can be anything from how charged your phone is to if you do community service to even crossing the street on a red light. this is something that can easily take away any idea of freedom of speech and free marketplace of ideas. with a low social score you can be banned from travel and certain universities. But the new innovations with Ai have also helped us a ton in the last decade right now we have self driving cars which haven't replaced the driver just yet but are getting very close to it. all around the world people are using Ai and new technologies to change the world and make things easier for us in the long run.
Gatekeeping
the idea of gatekeeping has been around for a long time and is seen many times through out history. gatekeeping is the idea that you or someone else wants to keep their niche circle "pure" and free from outside influences that may change the group in ways you or they may not want changed. this can be seen in many things. people use gatekeeping to try and keep other people from music certain types of people will try and make it so that people who they do not like or trust will not be able to listen to a certain type of music. this is done mainly through social interaction by people spreading the world that these types of people shouldn't be listening to this type of music they should be listening to another. this effectively shuts off new people from joining the circle and enjoying new music. this is also done with different cultures some people may want to experience new cultures but other will try and stop them saying that because they may be doing it wrong or it looks wrong they are being racist and or harmful to the culture. people will assume one thing about you and roll with it even if they are proven wrong because they do not understand that culture is meant to be shared and seen by others the more people who are enjoying your culture and your holidays the more people who are like you and can relate to you in the future.

wars have been waged by the united states for hundreds of years and through out our lives in my generation we have never known a day without war on foreign soil all fought for different reasons from power to resources. there are many people in the united states who are anti war but we hardly every hear anything about them. the reason this is the case is because the media tries to silence those voices by not having them speak on their shows to not having them show up in the paper. the media and the government want to keep wars going because it means more profit in the long run. many people do not understand but our media is fixed and we do not talk much about what is actually going on in the world we only hear about their agendas and what they want us to hear.

one of the technologies that i learned about from someone else was about carrier pigeons. I never knew how cool they were until now. they are very fast and super accurate. if you take a pigeon from any city along with you on a journey you can attach a small note to it or usb to it. if you let it go it will travel back to whatever city you got it from its all natural. they are also extremely fast they can easily travel over 300 miles in a few hours without stopping. this changed the way people used to communicate with others. they were used by the Mongols when they were taking over most of the known world at the time.
new ideas
through out history there have been thousands of new inventions some have cought on and shaped the world while others have fallen and been forgotten only to be remembered and laughed at because they either failed at what they were supposed to do or they just did not catch on with the world. one of the inventions that cought on very quickly and was a huge centerpiece of history was the printing press. this was revolutionary in the world of writing and sharing information in the world. without this invention we would have had to keep writing everything by hand and it would be hard for people to share their stories. Many people in the world adopted it because they could print bobles in their own language and teach people how to read much easier. the world tried to adopt the printing press but it was hard to do because it was such a large machine and you had to have it specially made for you. the negative of this is that people were able to tell everyone what was going on in the world and this made some powers angry like with the 95 thesis.
Phones
the idea of having a phone in your pockets and it being able to be tracked can be scary sometimes. technology today is scary to think about everything and anything you can and is being tracked by someone somewhere. most people do not realise that what they do online stays forever. what you do have to be saved and stored somewhere most people don not know where nor do they care about it. but to some people this is a big deal. There are people who choose to isolate themselves and cut themselves off from the internet as a whole because they do not want to be tracked. this has a huge impact on the world we live in today. with your information being tracked and stored anyone could have access to it easily. In my mind i d not care about that except for my very private information such as social security and banking information. Other than that I do not really care I have nothing serious to hide. to better protect our privacy people can be more mindful about whatb they share on the internet and who they share it with. they can also be more mindful about what sites they choose to visit and what they download off of any site.

for my eoto presentation i chose to do satellite tv and radio. this technology is a key part of our society today without it we would have very little entertainment. The invention of satellite tv and radio goes back all the way to the 60's and 70's when tv was starting to get big and people were starting to be able to afford to have tv's in their houses and personal lives. this was a huge breakthrough in the world of media and communication. with this people could watch movies at certain times and the news would also be on at certain times. with the introduction of news television people could witness what was going on in the world and in their local area. this had never been seen before, until that time people had to rely on the news paper to tell them what was going on around them and they trusted the news paper more than anything. the main problem they were trying to solve with this new invention was that people would get their news a day or two late and would not be able to accurately tell what was going on in the world at the time. with this invention people were able to learn what was going on and who was doing it. this was key in the Vietnam war where people were actually seeing what war was and what was happening on the ground, unlike in world war II were people had to rely on picture and news reels from a few days ago at the earliest to learn what was actually happening in the war, in the Vietnam wars people could see in real time what they were doing and how they were affecting the world.

free speech is a key part of what it means to be American and a key part of the constitution. the very first amendment deals with the freedom of speech. without it we would not be America which prides itself on being able to speak your mind without any problems. the idea of a free marketplace of ideas has been created with the introduction of the printing press. the people of the country are able to use printed material to spread their ideas and share it with the world and around the country. with the introduction of the internet and television the people around the world can share their ideas with the rest of the world and view others ideas as well. it is amazing to think that without this people would be taught about only one ideal and how things should be, they would not be able to express themselves in the way they want or share their personality around the world. the supreme court
What I learned about the supreme court is a lot I had hardly any knowledge of what exactly they do. I learned that they basically have total ruling over laws but they can always overturn themselves. The supreme court rullings dont always change things people will try and find a way around them. the supreme court deals with a lot more than we normally see. The video didnt really change my opinion on the supreme court all that much.

My top five sources of news are the New York Times, msnbc, The Washington post, bbc, and youtube.
Is one of the biggest news sources in the world. Their articles are always fact checked by many editors and always updating and changing to show all the facts. They are consistently one of the best news corporations with hundreds of reporters all around the world getting the latest information on the current events going around the world.
They are another huge source of information that consistently get the current events into the eyes of the public. they have many reporters around the world making sure they get as many facts as possible. I like the way they present their news.
This is a big news company that is very popular in America. Many people use it including me to get their daily dose of information about what's going on in the world and what might impact you.
BBC news is an international news station that doesn't sugar coat whats going on in the world. their reporters go into some of the most dangerous places in the world to get first hand experience of what is happening there. I like them the most because they give you the straight facts about what is going on based off of what they experience in those dangerous areas.
Youtube is not a normal place to get news but I use it to figure out news about video games and tv shows that are coming out. this is more likely to show in the news searches of my generation and many people use this to get news from the people that they subscribe to. I use it as a secondary source to see if what i heard might be true or false.
